Project Overview
The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) - Division of Student
Transportation (DOT) provides safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services
that positively support learning opportunities for eligible students from the District
of Columbia.
Project Overview
OSSE DOT Operations:
The OSSE Division of Student Transportation will be merging two existing
school bus terminals located in Ward 5 to 1601 W Street, NE, also located in
Ward 5. The two terminals are located on New York Avenue, NE and Adams
Place, NE.
The New York Avenue Bus Terminal has approximately 430 employees and
233 buses onsite. However, the space is leased and leaves the agency
vulnerable because the owner may terminate the lease at any point.
The Adams Place Bus Terminal has approximately 200 employees and 95
buses onsite.
Upon completion all staff and equipment will be located at 1601 W. Street,
NE.
Project Overview
The terminal hours of operation are 4:00am 7:00pm and there will be two 24
hour security guards onsite.
The school buses are primarily fueled by gasoline.
OSSE DOT enforces the “No Idlinglaw and will post signs within the property.
There will be onsite parking provided for our management and administrative
staff.
OSSE DOT works diligently to adhere to the Stormwater Pollution Prevention
guidelines outlined by the Environmental Protection Agency and the DC
Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE). Our agency is currently in good
standing.
Project Overview
Community Information:
OSSE DOT provides transportation services to over 3,347 students attending
over 244 schools in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia.
