Graduate School Application Fee Waiver for
Currently Serving Members of the U.S. Armed Forces and Veterans
This application fee waiver is for personnel who are serving in any branch, any component of
the U.S. Armed Forces (U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Space
Force, or U.S. Coast Guard). Or who are veterans as defined by USC 38 U.S. Code § 101, “a
person who served in the active military, naval, air, or space service, and who was
discharged or released therefrom under conditions other than dishonorable”.
Currently Serving Members of the Armed Forces
• Submit a Memorandum for Record (MFR) or Statement of Service (for Navy and
Marines) from your Command
• The MFR or Statement should include your full name, date of birth, organization, and
unit of assignment. It must state that you are currently a member, and it must be
signed by your Commander or their designated representative
• Upload your document as an attachment in the Upload Materials-Other section of
Veterans
• Submit copy of your Department of Defense (DD) Form 214 CERTIFICATE OF RELEASE
OR DISCHARGE FROM ACTIVE DUTY
• Upload your document as an attachment in the Upload Materials-Other section of
Notes
• The waiver only applies to University of Louisville application fees. Third party
graduate program application fees (e.g., SOPHAS by Public Health, CAS by Nursing
etc.,) are not included in this waiver
• The waiver applies to all undergraduate, graduate and certificate programs except;
Medical, Dental and Juris Doctor (JD)
