Prerequisite Course Policies
A grade of “C or higher must be earned in all prerequisite courses.
Applicants MUST complete a minimum of 5 prerequisite courses by December 31
st
of the year applied.
o +Two of the five completed courses must include Human Anatomy, Microbiology, plus any three
other prerequisite courses.
Final grades for any prerequisite courses In-Progress during the fall admissions semester transcripts with final
grades must be uploaded to the MyStatus page by the second week in January. See Application
Information on the UT Austin School of Nursing website for further instructions.
*Applicants MUST have completed Human Anatomy with lab, Human Physiology with lab, and
Pharmacology courses within the past 6 years from the date of anticipated AE program enrollment.
All 7 prerequisite courses must be complete before ENROLLING in the AE program, NOT by the
application deadline. The program typically starts around June 1
st
.
All prerequisite courses are available in Distance Learning format (see page 2 & 3 for approved courses). Any
online courses not on this list can be sent to the AEMSN graduate coordinator for approval.
All prerequisite courses are subject to approval by the Graduate Student Services Office.
Transcript evaluations for prerequisite course completion are recommended prior to applying to the AEMSN &
AEPhD programs. To request an evaluation of your transcripts, please email your contact information and copies of
your transcripts (copies of official transcripts are preferred but not required) to: Graduate Student Services at
nugrad@nursing.utexas.edu.
