FIR APPROVED BALLS 2023

The FIR Council has established the following lists of approved balls and

shuttlecocks for Elite Draws. The Council has also decided that the following

lists must be used in each sport for all FIR international World Ranking

Tournaments (WC, CC, SWT, IWT, CHA) from 2021 onward. Any updates to

the list will be published online.

Non Elite Draws may be played with any other brand balls and shuttlecocks

provided they are previously approved by the FIR council. (See badminton

exception)

Any requests for brands / balls / shuttles to be added to the FIR Approved

Balls List should be made to the Head of Delegates:

[email protected] who will ensure that adequate testing be

carried out before any decision is made.

Table Tennis

The following balls are approved by FIR in accordance with the ITTF -

International Table Tennis Federation and MUST be 3-star*** in colours

White or Orange only! Plastic balls must be used only.

A minimum of 3 balls per table are requested whatever the draw in order

to prevent damaged or lost balls.

Badminton

The following shuttlecocks are approved by FIR in accordance with the WBF

– World Badminton Federation and MUST only be used in all Olympic draws

(Men Elite Singles, Women Elite Singles, Men Elite Doubles, Mixed Elite

Doubles and Women Elite Doubles). In all other draws real feather

shuttlecocks in at least B-grade quality (no practice) by the same brands as

below MUST be used.

A minimum of 2 shuttlecocks per match whatever the draw are requested.

Squash

The following balls are approved by FIR in accordance with the WSF – World

Squash Federation and MUST be double-dot yellow only.

Regarding Squash balls life limits, The FIR Council has decided the following

rule:

How many consecutive matches balls should be used for needs to be agreed

between the TD and FIR delegate. In case of any disagreement, the FIR

delegate should have final say. This decision should be based on what type

of squash balls are being used and the condition of the squash courts at the

venue.
