Alex Fun Day Camp
Ages 6-12. Games, arts and crafts, swimming,
and more. There’s something for everyone!
Campers will have one weekly special event each
week, a highlighted theme of the week, and swim

separated into rotating
teams, and each team
will create recipes that are
judged by the instructors in a blind taste test

3rd item will be recipes that are similar, but have
slightly different ingredients—Farmer’s Market

Cooking Around the World
Ages 5-9. It is said that if you want to learn about
a country, you should start with the food. During
this week of camp, our Tiny Chefs will learn how
to create the cuisines of multiple countries. We
will be cooking up some of the fabulous flavors of
Italian, Indian, Vietnamese, Mexican, and French
foods, and also learning about some of the
cooking techniques and ingredients that make
them unique. Come join us as we expand our

American Picnic
Ages 5-9. American cuisine is inspired by cultures
around the world, but has become uniquely and
deliciously its own! For most Americans, nothing
says summer like hamburgers, hot dogs, and
potato salad. While some of those items are
definitely on our All-American summer menu,
we are also going to explore American cuisine
from sea to shining sea, from Southern BBQ to
California’s twist on the BLT to the countrywide
favorite Strawberry Shortcake! Come dive into
summer with Tiny Chefs. It will feel like the 4th
of July all week!

curious about how the pros make those cupcakes

measuring, mixing, baking, and frosting, and then
finish the week with two days of baking battle!

The Great Food Truck Race
Ages 5-9. If your Tiny Chef dreams of someday
having their own restaurant or food truck, sign
them up for this inventive summer camp! Each
day the students will produce a different course
(appetizer, soup, main dish, or dessert) or an
item from a certain cuisine and build a creative
food truck around it. Over the course of the
session, they will also be working on a final
idea for their very own food truck, expanding
on the types of foods that their particular
restaurant on wheels would serve based on the
experiences they have had in class. Students will
be introduced to a variety of cuisines, cooking
skills, and presentations throughout the week.

Cupcake Wars 2.0
Ages 5-9. Cupcakes have been the baked item
of choice for several years now, and the Tiny
Chefs’ version of Cupcake Wars has been so
popular we have had to create a “sequel” in order
to introduce new recipes and competitions. In
Cupcake Wars 2.0, we have gathered cupcake
recipes that double as breakfast foods or drinks,
and that explore regional and international
cuisines. On top of that, we have included savory

child care programs, but both programs
are based on local standards. E

location’s program is planned to be age-
appropriate and properly supervised.

The Out of School Time Power-On/
Power-Up program does not administer
any medication.
With written authorization from a parent
or guardian and signed by the child's
physician, inhalers and EpiPens needed
for life-threatening medical conditions
are permissible
in the original labeled
containers and will be held in a secured
location in the program office. Staff will
take these medications to any program
activities offsite in a medical backpack
with other standard first aid supplies.
Any other medication requests are
handled on a case-by-case basis.
Summer Power-On
Ages 6-11 (entering 1st grade-6th grade in Fall
2024). Join us as we help to Cultivate Leaders of
Tomorrow. Discover creative and performing arts,
traditional recreation activities, sports, health
and fitness, special events, and much more!
Campers are encouraged to develop a sense of
camaraderie and an understanding of teamwork.

Summer Power-Up
Ages 11-14 (entering grades 6-10 in Fall 2024).
Leaders of Tomorrow are cultivated today! Be the
change you want to see in the world. Designed
for young teens who want to spend the summer
meeting new people, having fun with friends, and
creating lasting memories. Power-Up provides
engaging and age-appropriate activities for all
campers to enjoy. The program includes sports,
swimming, performing and creative arts, STEAM
activities, and more! No camp on 6/19 and 7/4.

friends, laughter, and great adventure in one of
our Camp Adventure programs! Each program
provides a variety of weekly enrichment activities,
adventurous field trips, and much more! No
program on 6/19 and 7/4. Additional fees are
required for all Camp Adventure field trips. For

Accommodations:
City of Alexandria programs, services,
and facilities are available to all citizens
regardless of race, color, national
origin, sex, age, or disability. The City of
Alexandria complies with the Americans
with Disabilities Act (ADA) for qualified
individuals.
To request ADA accommodation, call
703.746.5422 or VA Relay 711 two
weeks prior to an event, activity, or
registration deadline. The Department
of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities
will attempt to meet requests for written
material in alternative formats, including
braille, within 10 days of request.
Camp Locations: Subject to change.
Cancellations:
Programs that have not met the minimum
number of enrollees are canceled
approximately one week before the start
date. Participants are notified by phone
or email.
Class Size:
The minimum and maximum number
of participants is based on one camp
instructor. Class size may be increased
when instructors are added.
Confirmation:
Non-web registrants receive a registration
confirmation receipt by email. If unsure,
please call 703.746.5414 to confirm.
Credit/Refund Policy:
If your camper can no longer attend
camp, please let us know as soon as
possible, so that we may enroll other
campers from the wait list. Registrants
may request a refund or household credit
in writing to Lee Center, Registration
& Reservation Office, 1108 Jefferson
St., Alexandria, VA 22314 or by email
to registerarpca@alexandriava.gov
based on the following criteria:
Full credits are processed
for activities canceled by the
department. If a refund is preferred,
please let us know.
RPCA Satisfaction Guarantee:
Registrants not satisfied with a
class/program are encouraged to
contact RPCA as soon as possible
so that we can make it right. If we
are unable to correct the concern,
a credit or refund may be issued.
Registrants unable to attend a
program due to relocation, schedule
conflict, sickness, or injury may
request a credit or refund.
Credits will remain on a household
account for 90 days. Credits older
than 90 days will be processed as a
refund back to the customer.
Drop-off Registrations:
Forms left in the drop box at the Lee
Center require up to five business days
for processing. Drop-off registrations
will be retrieved for processing on
opening day of registration and
does not guarantee enrollment.
Fees:
All fees must be paid in full and are
due at the time of registration. Partial
payment does not reserve enrollment. All
personalized checks and money orders
are payable to the City of Alexandria. One
form and check may be used for family
registrations.

Nonresident Fee:
A fee of $35 per person, in addition
to the activity fee, is required for all
activity sections.
Release:
Participants in activities sponsored or
cosponsored by the Department of
Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities
consent to the City’s use of any
photograph, film, or videotape of the
activity in any marketing or promotional
material. Fees, programs, and operating
hours are subject to change. Visit

If a camp is full, a wait list is generated
and individuals on the wait list will be
contacted if space becomes available.
