Board of Commissioners
Clayton County is one of Georgia’s smallest
counties in land size with an area of 146
square miles. Yet, with more than 260,000
residents, it is one of the most densely
populated counties in the state.
The Clayton County Board of Commissioners
is the governing authority of the county.
The
board consists of a full-time Chairman
(elected county-wide) and four part-time
Commissioners (elected by districts). All
serve staggered, four-year terms.
Business Meetings
Regular meetings are held on the first and
third Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m., at
112 Smith Street, Jonesboro, GA.
Zoning Meetings
The Board of Commissioners will consider
zoning matters* as part of the Board's
Agenda at its regular meeting held on the
third Tuesday of each month. *Only if
there are zoning matters to discuss.
All meetings are open to the public except
for those occasions involving matters that
are specifically exempt by the Georgia Open
Meetings Law.
