This rider is a forming part of the Prospectus of Bachelor of
Physiotherapy course of KUHS for the academic year 2017-18.
Students applying for admission
for BPT programme should note;
1. The Cut-off date for allotment of Govt. merit quota seats and closure of
admissions entitling Management to collect liquidated damages will the
announced by the Govt. in due course. which shall be binding on all applicants
seeking admission for BPT programme during the academic year 2017-18.
2. Fee Regulatory Committee under the chairmanship of Honorable Justice
Rajendra Babu are processing the proposal for revision of fee structure of BPT
Programme. Revised fee and other charges, if any, approved by the
Committee or State Government shall be levied from students seeking
admission/admitted during the academic year 2017-18.

College of Physiotherapy
The College is situated on the shore of the Vembanad Lake, 9 km from Vaikom Town,
Chemmanakary, Kulasekharamangalam, a village blessed with natural beauty and resources.
The College functions in a separate building adjacent to the Parent Hospital, the Indo-
American Hospital, well known for its specialization in neurology and neurosurgery. Of late,
this Hospital has been expanded into a General Hospital with 205 inpatient beds. The College
offers a 4 year course of study leading to B P T degree which is awarded by Kerala University
of Health Sciences, Thrissur after successful completion of another six months internship in a
recognized hospital.
Philosophy
Physiotherapy Education while catering to the ever demanding need of technically qualified
personnel at national and international levels, will boost the career prospects of our students
and will empower them with self reliance, economic freedom and social commitment.
Recognizing the shortage of adequately qualified and trained Physiotherapists and the
overwhelming demand for them within the Country and abroad, Bahuleyan Charitable
Foundation has decided to serve as a premier organization providing Physiotherapy Education
by establishing BCF College of Physiotherapy in this remote, rural area. This endeavour is in
keeping with the concept of its Founder, Dr. Kumar Bahuleyan, whose dream is to create a
hub of quality para - medical education in this hamlet of Vaikom Taluk which is also his
native place.

Objectives
The main objective of offering the basic B P T degree programme of 4 ½ years’ duration by
this College is to produce graduates having specialized knowledge in human Anatomy,
Physiology and Clinical Sciences which will enable them to provide comprehensive
Physiotherapy care to all age groups, in all situations, both in the hospital and in the
community. By offering a well planned and well supervised clinical training programme, the
students will be enabled and empowered to utilize the latest technological innovations to
provide quality healthcare as well as to conduct result oriented studies in various settings and
utilize the research findings to improve the quality of physical therapy. The course will also
enable them to communicate effectively with individuals and groups, and members of any
health care team in order to promote effective interpersonal relationship and collaborative
work.

Faculty
The college faculty base comprises of guest, visiting and regular faculty. Experienced guest
faculty are usually drawn from educational and clinical sector to provide critical insights on a
particular topic. The core strength of the faculty is formed by regular or visiting faculty, who
provide specialised support.
A salient and outstanding feature of the faculty of the college is that, every faculty engages in
Interactive Distance Learning Programmes, Faculty Development Programmes, and conducts
Continuing Medical Education Programmes every year to keep up-to-date with the recent
developments in medicine and other sectors as well as global environment, to make education
and training programmes more meaningful and relevant.
Parent Hospital
Indo American Hospital, Brain and Spine Centre adjacent to the college campus, is the
parent hospital of BCF COP. This super specialty hospital provides all facilities as available in
any of the finest hospitals in Europe or USA in the Neurology and Neurosurgery specialty.
Dr.K.Bahuleyan founded the BCF trust, a non profitable organization that runs the Indo
American Hospital with a view that the poor patients should not be denied top class medical
service due to their poverty. The hospital, one of the finest in the sub continent, attracts
patients from every part of the globe.

ADMISSION
Eligibility:-
An applicant is eligible for admission if the following criteria are met with:-
An Indian citizen or dependent of NRI.
Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher
Secondary Education, Kerala, or examinations recognized as equivalent there to, with
50% marks in Biology separately, and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology
put together, are eligible.
Candidates should have studied English as a subject at 12
th
standard/plus two levels.
The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on or before 31
st
December of the
year of admission.
Candidate should be medically fit.
Norms for Admission:
Selection of students shall be made on the basis of norms prescribed by Govt. of
Kerala/ Kerala University of Health Sciences from time to time.
50% of the total seats in the College will be filled by the Government from the lost
prepared the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, in accordance with merit and
reservation principles followed by Government from time to time..
Member Colleges having minority institution status approved by the Govt. or the
National Minorities Commission,20% seats out of the above 50% merit seats will be
filled by the Govt. from the list prepared by the Commissioner for Entrance
Examinations from the students belonging to the community, which established the
member College, based on their inter-se merit. In case sufficient numbers of such
candidates are not available, the balance sheets will be allotted as per usual norms.
35% of the total seats shall be Management seats and shall be filled up from among the
candidates who are eligible as per the Prospectus for the course published by the
Government based on the applications received against notification by College
Management directly and in accordance with merit in the qualifying examination.
15% of total seats in the College shall be filled up by eligible students who are
children/dependents of Non-resident Indians.
Levying amount towards liquidated damages from candidates discontinuing their
studies shall be as laid down in clause 13(a) & (b) of Prospectus 2017 issued by the
Director of Medical Education, Trivandrum.
The cut off date for allotment of seats under Government merit quota for the year
2017-2018 shall be as per the consensual agreement with the Govt.. The College
Management shall be entitled to fill those Government merit quota seats remaining
unfilled thereafter.
PROCEDURE FOR APPLYING
The following procedure will be followed: -
A candidate seeking admission is required to send his/her application on the prescribed
Form only.
Application Form along with Prospectus can be obtained directly from the College
office on payment of Rs.500/- (Rupees five hundred only) in cash, or by Registered
Post from the Administrative Officer of the college by sending a DD for Rs.550/-
(Rupees five hundred and fifty only) drawn in favour of respective Colleges of
Physiotherapy payable at the Bank branches of the Colleges.. The cost of the Form is
not refundable.
The candidate shall fill in the Application Form legibly in his / her own handwriting.
The entries in registration sheet should be clearly typed/hand written in block letters.
There should be no over typing/over writing in the registration sheet.
The candidate is required to go through the Prospectus carefully and acquaint
himself/herself with all the requirements with regard to filling in of the Application
Form.
Candidates are directed to check the number printed on the first page of the
Application Form and ensure that it is the same on all enclosures viz. Admit Card and
Acknowledgment Card.
The envelope should be superscribed “APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION TO B.P.T
COURSE”
It will be the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that the correct address for
communication is given. The College shall not be held responsible for any loss in
transit due to incorrect or incomplete address given by the applicant.
Duly filled in Application Form should reach the College on or before 15
th
June, 2017,
4PM. The College does not take any responsibility for delay in receipt or loss of
application in postal transit.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING IN THE APPLICATION FORM
All particulars in the application form must be written carefully and legibly. Applications,
which are incomplete, will not be considered. The application form duly filled in should be
accompanied by the following documents:
A certified true copy/photocopy of the Matriculation/Higher Secondary Certificate
issued by the University/ Board showing the date of birth of the candidate. (No other
evidence of the candidate’s date of birth shall be accepted).
A certified true copy/photocopy of the certificate from the University/Board or from
Principal /Head of the College from which the candidate passed his/her 12th class
examination under the 10+2 system or an equivalent examination, of having passed the
examination with Science subjects namely; Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
A certified true copy/photocopy of mark-sheet issued by the University / Board.
A certified true copy/photocopy of the Conduct Certificate from the Principal / Head of
the College/ Institute last attended.
IMPORTANT POINTS TO NOTE
The following points may be noted: -
In case, any candidate is found to have furnished false information or certificate(s) etc.
or is found to have withheld or concealed some information in his / her application, he
/she shall be debarred from admission to this course.
Candidates must note that they should not submit original certificates. The college
does not take any responsibility for return of the original certificates.
Incomplete application will not be accepted.
The candidates as well as their parents at the time of admission of the students to the
College will be required to furnish an Undertaking to the effect that the candidates will
not indulge in any form of ragging. If they are found involved in ragging they will be
expelled from the college and suitable other disciplinary action will be taken against
them.
In pursuance of State Govt. orders, the use of mobile phones in the campus by the
students is strictly prohibited.
The candidates as well as their parents at the time of admission of the students to the
College will be required to furnish an Undertaking to the effect that if the candidate
decides to discontinue the course for whatever reason he/she will pay the fee for the
remaining years.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE AND DATE OF JOINING
Candidates who are selected for admission should bring the following original
certificates/testimonials/ documents at the time of admission:
Certificate of having passed the 10+2 examination OR its equivalent
examination, showing the subjects offered by him/her in the examination.
Certificate from the Board from which he/she passed the High School /Higher
Secondary Examination, showing his/her date of birth.
Certificate/Mark sheet from the Board from which he/she passed the 10+2
Examination or its equivalent examination showing that he/she has secured 50%
or more marks in aggregate in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology or
in case of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates, he/she has secured 45%
or more marks in the subject of Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Transfer Certificate from the institution last attended.
Conduct Certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended.
Migration Certificate from the University/Board last attended by him/her.
Undertakings against indulging in ragging and against use of cell phone inside
College campus.
Certificate from the prescribed authority showing that he / she belongs to a
Scheduled Caste / Tribe community (Applicable only if he / she has claimed in
his / her application that he/she belongs to a Scheduled Caste /Tribe category).
Passport size Photograph (front pose) 4 copies
Undertaking to the effect that the candidate will pay the fees for the remaining
year in case of discontinuing the course.
FEES AND EXPENSES
Each candidate selected for admission shall have to pay the fees and dues immediately
after the announcement of the list of selected candidates, and after they are declared
medically fit by the Medical Board, failing which his/her admission shall be cancelled
and the next candidate in the waiting list shall be admitted in his/her place.
The Tuition Fees and other fees are due for payment as prescribed by Govt. as also
revised from time to time.
Expenses towards Hostel Fees, Mess Charges, Uniform, Text Books, Health Insurance,
SPA, PTA etc are extra and shall be remitted by the students at actual as and when
notified by the College.
NOTE:
1. The fees and other charges including hostel rent once paid shall not be refunded even if a student
leaves the Institute for any reason. No correspondence in this matter shall be entertained.
2. The caution money and mess security will, however, be refunded to those candidates who do not
join the course. In case of a student, who leaves the course in the middle or after the completion of
the course, the balance of caution money and mess security, after deduction of the charges due, will
be refunded.
